Karoo Looms Weavery was established in 1983 in Prince Albert, a small rural town at the foot of the Swartberg Mountains, in the Karoo region of South Africa.

Founded in 1983, the business has built a strong reputation for quality mohair craftsmanship over the decades. In 2026, Sophia Booley took ownership after having managed the business for 15 years, continuing to build on this legacy while further strengthening the brand’s position within the industry. Today, the focus remains on personalised service and delivering a superior product.

As an all-women team, we share a common vision and work together to develop and sustain the craft of handweaving. The weavery is about more than creating beautiful mohair rugs — it is about empowering the women who have carried this craft through the years, and those who will carry it into the future.
